Advocates looking to legalize marijuana in the state of Ohio have earned enough voter signatures to head to the Legislature.
The Coalition of Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol submitted 136,729 signatures. Nearly 4,000 more than required. The ballot initiative will now head to the Ohio House of Representatives and the Senate, which will have four months to act on the proposed law.
The proposal would allow Ohioans aged 21 and older to buy and possess up to 2.5 pounds of cannabis and 15 grams of concentrates. They can also have the ability to grow up to six plants with no more than 12 in a household with multiple adults.
If the bill doesn’t pass, supporters can work to collect 132,887 signatures to put their measure on the ballot.
