A man died Monday afternoon following a kayak accident in Tuscarawas County.
Ronald Swigert had flipped over in his kayak while kayaking the Tuscarawas River with family Sunday afternoon. When Tuscarawas County Sheriff deputies arrived to the accident location near state Route 416 and U.S. Route 36, they located Swigert in the river due to the bank being muddy.
Deputy Ray Cottrell helped pull Swigert from the water and onto the bank before beginning CPR. He was transported to Twin City Medical Center in Dennison by the Arrowhead Joint Fire District where he died a day later.
