A four-year-old little girl is dead and another man injured after some fired into a crowd of people in Akron’s Summit Lake neighborhood.

The shooting occurred in the 700 block of Princeton Street just after 9 p.m. Friday night.

Akron Police locked down Akron Children’s Hospital, where the girl was transported after the shooting.

Akron Police also said the shooting did not happen near any demonstration related to Jayland Walker, the 25-year-old who was recently shot and killed by APD during a foot chase. They believe the shooting is not related to any protests.

The man, 40, was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital in critical condition.

No suspects have been arrested at this time.

This is a developing story.
