Minerva High School’s Sept. 2 varsity football game against Beaver Local High School has been canceled due to a spike in COVID-19 cases between the Lions’ team and staff.
The Minerva athletic department also reported a significant increase in sickness between the players and coaches, with all in-person practices being shut down for the team.
Beaver Local posted an announcement of the game’s cancellation on Tuesday, as well as a search for a replacement opponent.
The Lions’ (0-2) next scheduled game comes on Friday, Sept. 9 against Sandy Valley High School at Minerva’s Dr. Robert Hines Stadium.
