The Canton Police Department is investigating a shooting in the 1300 block of 15th St. N. W. that occurred Wednesday night at 11pm.
When officers arrived to the scene, they located Jaden Matthew Weatherford, 23, of Canton with multiple gunshot wounds to the lower body. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries by the Canton Fire Department.
Detectives investigating the shooting were able to quickly identify the suspect as Corey A. Thompson, 37, of Malvern.
According to a 911 call, a neighbor heard five gunshots.
Thompson was later arrested by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at 4143 Bonnie Drive in Malvern.
Thompson is facing charges of Felonious Assault (F2) and Having Weapons Under Disability (F3).
