A juvenile was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Tuscarawas County, according to the Lieutenant Johnnie H. Maier New Philadelphia Ohio State Patrol Post Commander.

The crash occurred on N. Water Street when a 2022 white Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Anthony Compston, 37, of Dennison, failed to maintain an assured clear distance and struck a red 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix that was stopped at a red light. The Pontiac was operated by Nicholas Decker, 29, of Uhrichsville, according to police reports.

Decker sustained minor injuries and was transported to Aultman Hospital by Uhrichsville Fire and EMS. Compston also suffered minor injuries but did not require transport.

A juvenile passenger in the Chevrolet Silverado was seriously injured and transported to Akron Children’s Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The names of the passengers in the Silverado have not yet been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
