The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday afternoon on State Route 43 near Waynesburg Road.
According to troopers, the crash happened at approximately 1:19 p.m. and involved a head-on collision between a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox and a 2020 Chevrolet Blazer.
The Equinox, driven by Trent Clark, 31, of Waynesburg, Ohio, was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of State Route 43 when it collided with the northbound Blazer, driven by Billie Snodgrass, 55, of Amsterdam, Ohio.
Clark was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel. Snodgrass sustained nonlife-threatening injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital by Canton Township EMS. David Snodgrass, a passenger in the Blazer, was also transported to Mercy Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries by the Quad Ambulance Company.
The crash remains under investigation, and alcohol use is believed to have been a factor. All individuals involved were wearing seat belts.
Assisting at the scene were Canton Township Fire and EMS, Quad Ambulance Company, and the Stark County Medical Examiner’s Office.
