Man killed in Stark County domestic shooting identified as local 35-year-old

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the Meyers Lake area Thursday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Weston Wade, according to Stark County Coroner Chief Investigator Harry Campbell. Wade, from Canton Township, was pronounced dead at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital at 3:41 p.m. Law enforcement first received the call at 3:07 p.m.

Sheriff George Maier confirmed to Jordan Miller News that the incident was domestic in nature, leaving one person dead. Authorities are working to determine whether the shooting was a case of self-defense, though Maier stated it is too early to draw conclusions.

The incident took place at a home in the 1500 block of DeVille Avenue NW.
