A man found shot in the head and wrapped in a tarp near a Carroll County roadway earlier this month had been living in Coshocton, according to Coshocton County Sheriff Christopher Walters.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old Douglas Hubler, also known as “Angel,” was discovered along Cashmere Road in Perry Township on Feb. 7 by road workers. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, launched a homicide investigation, and authorities in Coshocton County have since joined the case.

Sheriff Walters did not disclose how investigators determined Hubler had been residing in Coshocton or what his activities were in the area. Carroll County Sheriff Calvin Graham previously stated that Hubler was born in Pennsylvania and may have lived in New York. His family, including his mother, had not heard from him in several months.

As of Friday, authorities had not identified any suspects in the case.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Coshocton County sheriff’s Detective Tyler Mann at 740-622-3774.
