A Columbiana County man was sentenced this week after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a fatal crash that killed a Malvern man last year.
Dakota Kincaid, 27, admitted to aggravated vehicular homicide, a first-degree felony; driving under the influence, a fourth-degree felony; and driving under an OVI suspension, a first-degree misdemeanor, according to court records. Prosecutors dismissed additional charges as part of a plea agreement.
Carroll County Common Pleas Judge Michael Repella sentenced Kincaid to a prison term of eight to 12 years, with credit for 183 days already served in the county jail. He was also fined $2,000 and received a Class II suspension along with a lifetime revocation of his driver’s license.
The crash, which occurred on March 20, 2024, in Augusta Township, claimed the life of 71-year-old Patrick Snow of Malvern. According to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report, Kincaid was intoxicated at the time of the crash, with a blood-alcohol content of .239—nearly three times the legal limit of .08. Investigators determined Kincaid’s vehicle crossed the centerline before colliding with Snow’s vehicle.
