Emergency calls in Canton are temporarily being handled by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center as the city works to resolve an issue with its phone system, officials announced.
Residents can still call 911 for police, fire, or medical assistance. A dispatcher from the Stark County Sheriff’s Office will answer and direct calls to the appropriate agency.
Nonemergency calls can still be placed to 330-649-5800, though officials advise callers to try again later if their call is not immediately answered.
No other emergency dispatch centers appear to be affected.
