A Massillon man has died after being struck by a vehicle Friday night in Canton, according to police.
Chief John Gabbard said officers with the Canton Police Department responded at approximately 9:25 p.m. April 11 to the 3400 block of Harmont Avenue NE for a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.
Investigators said a 2022 Ford Escape was traveling northbound on Harmont Avenue NE when it struck a man who was walking westbound across the roadway.
The pedestrian, identified as 41-year-old Calvin Scott of Massillon, was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries on Sunday, April 13.
The Canton Metro Crash Team is investigating the incident. The driver of the Ford was not injured and is not suspected of drug or alcohol use, police said. Toxicology results showed alcohol was a factor for the pedestrian.
